The Kuwait Obesity Association

The Kuwait Obesity Association (KOA) was established in 2007 at the initiative of Dr. Yousef Boabbas, Consultant Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Amiri Hospital, with the support of Dr. Mansoor Al-Sulaili, then-President of the Kuwait Medical Association, out of their belief in the necessity of enhancing medical and societal awareness about obesity, which constitutes a great health burden in Kuwait in particular and the world at large.

The association aims to enhance medical awareness among colleagues from various medical specialities about obesity as a disease, and the need to manage patients through an integrated scientific manner based on the latest medical and research data. KOA also looks to increase societal and institutional awareness of obesity and the different means of prevention and treatment available through various medical specialties.
